Calamus macrosphaerion Beccari	botol
Stems solitary, 15 m long, 8.5 cm diameter. Sheaths densely covered with brown, horizontal
spines; knees well-developed; ocreas to 10 cm long, soon tattering and becoming fibrous and
falling; petioles 27 cm long; groove present; rachises 254 cm long; pinnae 68 per side of rachis,
regularly arranged and spreading in one plane, with long spinules on lateral veins adaxially and
on mid-vein abaxially, with numerous vestigial spinules abaxially; cirri with stout, regular
groups of spines. Inflorescence pistillate, 93 cm long; partial inflorescences subtended by
tattering bracts; rachillae bracts short but tattering.
