Calamus didymocarpus Warburg ex Beccari
Stems solitary, 20 m long, 3 cm diameter. Sheaths gray-green, without spines; petioles 9 cm
long; rachises 175 cm long; pinnae 29 per side of rachis, regularly arranged, leathery, with
spinules along margins, with numerous vestigial spinules all over abaxial surface; cirri spines
more or less regularly arranged. Staminate inflorescence inserted well below the knee, 560 cm
long, terminating in a short ‘flagellum’; partial inflorescences bracts strictly tubular, with
swollen-based groups of thorns.
