Stems solitary, 20 m long, 2.3 cm diameter. Sheaths green and white mottled, with numerous,
black, horizontal spines; knees not spiny; petioles absent; rachises 140 cm long; pinnae 23 per
side of rachis, leathery, without spinules except for some very small spinules on adaxial mid-vein
distally; proximal pair of pinnae erect; distal pinnae vestigial. Inflorescences pistillate, 255 cm
long (one inflorescence sterile, a flagella); rachis bracts strictly tubular.
