/ NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN PALMS OF SULAWESI Indonesia. Sulawesi Tengah: Poso Regency, Tambing Lake, Lore Lindu National Park, relatively undisturbed forest near lake, 01°19.578’S, 120°18.609’E, 1580 m elevation. 25 October 2017. Calamus didymocarpus Warburg ex Beccari lauro pai Stems solitary, 35 m long, 4 cm diameter. Sheaths green, mottled with white, with dense, horizontal, black spines; knees without spines; petioles absent; rachises 115 cm long; pinnae 25 per side, regularly arranged, leathery, with dense, vestigial spinules abaxially; proximal pinnae reduced, distal pinnae not vestigial; cirri spines irregular but some seem regular. Infructescences 350 cm long, inserted well below knees, terminating in a 30 cm long, straight stub; rachis bracts strictly tubular, spiny; rachillae terminating in a spine-like bract; fruits globose, white; endosperm deeply ruminate.
