Description
Pileus 3 cm broad, convex, dry, matted subtomentose, gray with pink overtones especially toward margin. Flesh paler than 4-5A2, with thin violet brown zone beneath pileus surface, not changing, with mild odor and taste. Tubes depressed around the stipe, orange white (5A2), unchanging when exposed, 7 mm deep; pores concolorous, not changing, <1 mm broad. Stipe 8 cm long, 9 mm broad, becoming slightly broader toward base, dry, finely pink scabrous above, more coarsely pink scabrous below on pallid ground, some pale yellow showing through from flesh where injured in situ, chrome yellow at base, with interior solid, pale yellow up to near apex, cadmium orange to deep chrome yellow (5A8) in the base.
