  • Description

    Pileus 4-6 cm broad, convex to plano-convex, dry, matted subtomentose, gray brown (6-7E5) overall at first, developing some rosy pink tints along the margin with age, eventually tan (6C5-4) with pink tints fading, with a slightly projecting sterile margin. Flesh white, up to 1 cm thick, with mild odor and taste. Tubes depressed around stipe, white becoming flesh pink, unchanging, up to 1 cm deep, with pores rosy pink when young, soon fading and becoming concolorous with tubes, up to 1 mmbroad, staining pale brown when injured. Stipe 3.5-11 cm long, 1-1.5 cm broad, equal to subclavate, pinched at the base, strict or curved, dry, with fine rosy pink scabers on white ground color overall when young, with scabers becoming pale grayish tan below with age, remaining rosy pink above, rarely with subtle blue green stain from handling, with cadmium yellow base, with interior solid, white above, cadmium yellow at base.
