Eriocaulon nigrobracteatum Bridges and Orzell
Bay County: Deep muck quaking seepage herbaceous bog (poor fen)
in valley of Sandy Creek, ca. 2.6 mi S of FL 22 jet on both sides of
Sandy Creek Road, just N of Alvie Holmes Rd. jet., E of Mule Creek,
ca. 0.2 air mi NE of Mule Creek & Sandy Creek jet., ca. 8.5 air mi ESE
of Callaway; NEQ, SWQ, SWQ, Sec. 23, T4S, R12W; Allanton 7.5'
Quad.; 30°07'00" N, 85°25'14" W; Elev. 13 ft. Soils - Rutlege -
Pamlico (Typic Humaquepts - Terric Medisaprists). Common in seep-
spring runs within most unstable substrates of area, with water-soil
matrix pH values from 4.5 to 5.6, dominated by Pleea tenuifolia,
Panicum nudicaule, Rhynchospora macra, and R. stenophylla. Other
associates include Aristide palustris, Balduina uniflora, Cliftonia
monophylla, Drosera capiUaris, D. tracyi, Eleocharis tuberculosa,
Eriocaulon compressum, £ decangulare, Gaylussacia mosieri, Helenium
verna/e, Lachnocaulon digynum, Lycopodium carolinianum, Oxypolis
filiformis, Pinguicula ionantha, P. planifolia, Rudbeckia graminifolia,
Sabatia macrophylla, Sarracenia flava, S. psittacina, Syngonanthus
flavidulus, Tofieldia racamosa, Utricularia subulate, Xyris baldwiniene,
X. embigue, X. scebrifolie, X. serotine, and X. drummondii.
