DETERMINATION BY* >./£ PLANTS OF CALIFORNIA DISTRIBUTED BY THE HERBARIUM OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, BERKELEY 365. Corydalis caseana Gray, Proe. Am. Acad. 10 (1874) 69. Jonesville, Butte County, alt. 1500 m. In and beside eold running water, always in stony or gravelly soil. This is identical with no. 224 of these exsiecata, and is reissued to show the plant’s place in the local flora. It almost always occupies the larger gravelly springs and permanent gravel bars. The root system is very ample and stout. Flowering lasts through the summer. The color is variable in the amount of pink or red present with the white, but there is no real blue (cf. apice caerulescente of the diagnosis). The discharge of seed when the plants are disturbed is more than audible. The type locality, Big Spring, in Big Meadows, is submerged in the artificial Lake Almanor. Jonesville is positively, as suggested on the label of no. 224, the type locality of C. Bidwelliae. This broader form is produced by humus in the soil as well as by shade. Collected by E. B. Copeland, July 3, 1929. NEW YORK BOTANICAL.GARDEN "««’?TAo a r\n 03703890
