ilton, Santa Clara county, elevation 4000 feet, on a grassy slope
facing the west. It was very abundant there, dotting the slope
with the gorgeous orange of its flowers. Tlie flowers as a rule
are smaller in this fot.m than in the one common, on the hill$.
