Burnt Peak 1.5' USGS Quadrangle; T7N R16W, (sections not demarcated); near 34°41'56.5"N 118°34'10"W. Elevation ca 5240-5320 feet. Area largely dominated by woodland (Pinus ponderosa, Quercus kelloggii) and chaparral (Ceanothus leucodermis, Sambucus mexicana, Cercocarpus betuloides, Keckiella ternata, etc) with grassland openings rich in annuals and herbaceous perennials. Herbaceous perennial, locally common on open grassy ridgetop; leaves ± gray-green; petals entirely rich orange, varying to rich orange proximally with golden- yellow distally. Timothy S.
