Atractoroorpha porcata Hoffman	—=•
Mature, orange zygotes formed in culture
from an isolate obtained in 1981 by Dr. Richard
C. Starr. The source of this isolate was
material developed upon rewetting a dried
Californian soil sample labelled as follows:
"LEMON COVE — cowpasture with poplar tree
against steep road bank 4.6 miles west of
New Lemon Cove postoffice South side Cal. 198.
Collected 1953, from Proskauer 1965."
The mature zygotes in this specimen were
formed in 10-12 ml of modified Volvox Medium
in 60x15 mm Petri dishes prepared on 4/8/82
and maintained at 20-22° C with Illumination
provided by cool-white fluorescent lamps on a
12:12 h LD cycle at 180-240 ;uE1n.nr2.s-'.
Cells were collected and mounted on 7/3/82.
