Vegetative cells 83-92 x 43-256^, with plane end walls; 2-4 chromatophores, usually 3, making 0.5-2 turns in the cell; conjugation scalariform, tubes formed by both cells; receptive gametangia cylindric or slightly enlarged; zygospores mostly ellipsoid, 53-79/* x 83-128/x, all walls smooth, median wall yellow. Céllulis vegetativis 83-92 x 43-256/i, dissepimentis planis; chromatophoris 2-4, anfractibus 0.5-2; conjugatione scalari; tubo ex utraque cellula conjuganda emisso; cellulis fructiferis fcylindricis, vel paululum inflatis; zygosporis ellipsoideis 53-79¿i x 83-128/i, mesosporio laevi, flavescente. Collected by the authors from a small pond at Hymera, Sullivan Countv Indiana, September 10, 1936.
