ca. 220 m. Associated species: Prosopis glandulosa,
Forestiera, Spharaeclea, Gutierrezia and Cenchrus. Alluvial
soil.
Herb ca. 1 m tall, stems and leaves defended by prickles,
produces yellow-orange sap when cut. Flowers large
poppy-like, 3 cm across, petals purple with white veins.
