Hills on unconsolidated sediments, with dry forest of Ceiba
speciosa, Trichilia claussenii, Cereus dqyamii, Triplaris
americana, Gallesia integrifolia, Anadenanthera macrocarpa,
a few areas cleared for cattle pastures.
Woody vine over small trees. Flowers odorless (1:15 P.M.,
sunny). Calyx 3-angled, dull dark purple, closed and with a
watery black inky liquid before opening. Corolla rich purple, the
limb lighter, the tube yellow at base within; filaments yellow
like the corolla tube proximally, more creamy distally; anthers
creamy brown; ovary purple; style creamy white; nectary
yellow.
