Elevation ca. 650 meters. Mixed forest of Quercus spp., Nyssa, Liriodendron and Pinus. Growing at edge of road and in thin woods ; flowers with yellow petals and filaments, anthers and base of petals red; colonial. D. E. Boufford & E. W.
