Habitat: growing in old irrigation ditch adjacent mesquite bosque.
Associated spp: Prosopis velutina, Baccharis emoryi, B. salicifolia,
Sorghum halapense, Acacia greggii, Rhus microphylla, Sambucus
nigra cerulea, Juglans major, Ziziphus obtusifolia, Atriplex canescens.
Notes: occasional shrub 140 cm; flowers orange, fruit explosive
