Campo cerrado (a type of scrubby woodland originally) on upland, or very rarely forest. open marsh or dense secondary forest "mata" along the streams. This habitat: dryish soil, open transition belt between cerrado & marsh.

Description
Shrub 1 m. tall. Petals rose-violet with red spot at base of each. Anthers red, filaments & style lt. green. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
