Mentzelia affinis Greene Low mounded annual, growing in clumps consisting of several plants, 6 inches high by 2 feet across, flowers yellow. Ventura County: San Nicolas Island: SW escarpment, on ridge on E side of Grand Canyon. Localized; ca. 30 plants; barren E-facing blue siltsone slope. Elevation: 80 feet. Associated species: Malacothrix saxatilis implicata, Bromus rubens, Oligomeris linifolia. Steven A.
