RANCHO SANTA ANA BOTANIC GARDEN Flora of Los Angeles County, California, USA GENTIANACEAE Centaurium ex,altatum (Griseb.) Piper Liebre Mountains, Castaic Creek drainage upstream from confluence of Fish Canyon. Near 34°36’30”N, 118°39’55”W. T6N R17W N 1/2 SE 1/4 sec. 15; S 1/2 NE 1/4 sec. 23. Elev. ca. 1800 - 2000 feet. Narrow canyon surrounded by steep slopes, mostly of sedimentary rock. Vegetation on slopes mostly scrub of Salvia leucophylla, S. mellifera, Eriogonum fasciculatum, and Artemisia califomica. Riparian elements such as Salix lasiolepis, S. laevigata, S. exigua, Baccharis salicifolia, and Populus fremontii developed along stream channels. Annual, flowers pink.
