Habitat
Area near Operations where soil and trees dumped. On steep bank of gravelly soil where soil dumped, dominated by the common annual weeds of the region, Chenopodium album, Abutilon theophrasti, etc. with single plants of the ornamentals Petunia X hybrida, Nicotiana X sanderae, and Cleome hasslerana, all of which have been cultivated in the Garden for a number of years. Of the cultivated ornamental plans, only the Verbena bonarienesis is evidently well adapted to this habitat; this is the first year it has been noticed here.

Strictly erect herbs; flowers light lilac. About 2 dozen plants, healthy plants. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
