of Hwy 120, due S of Granite Mountain. (Cowtrack Mtn. quad:
37° 53.163'N, 118° 45.704'W; T1S R29E S3, NE/4 of SE/4).
Alt.: 2134m/7000ft.
Deep W-E canyon running parallel to Hwy 120, cutting through
Bishop tuff rhyolite. Heavily grazed canyon bottom with dry
stream and soft pumice / rhyolite soil. With Pinus monophylla,
small P. jeffryi, Salix, Artemisia tridentata, Chrysothamnus
viscidiflorus, C. nauseosus, Purshia tridentata, Tetradymia
canescens, Cryptantha confertiflora, Hesperostipa cornata.
Common on canyon bottom, in shade of Salix and Rosa.
