    Perennial shrub of 2m high. Roots almost black, fissured, light and juicy. Petioles 4mm long. Leaves simple, glabrous, alternate, dark above, light below, borne terminally on twigs, lanceolate, 4x25mm, finely hairy, margins entire. Flower buds 3mm long.
