roadcut along double powerline road above Owens River.
(Whitmore Hot Sprs. quad.: 37° 44.482'N, 118° 47.827'W; T2S
R29E S29, SE/4). Alt.: 2120m/6954ft.
Moist mud heaves along shallow road cut. Fine silty (somewhat
alkaline) soil holding moisture late. Grazed scrub of Artemesia
cana, Chrysothamnus nauseosus, with mesic areas supporting
Achillea millefolium, Senecio hydrophilus, Penstemon rydbergii,
Lupinus lepidus, Trifoluim longipes, Astragalus lemmonii,
Muhlenbergia richardsonis, Juncus mexicanus.
Small colonies growing in muddy wheel ruts.
