Along trail in Bronx River Reservation entering at Bronx River
Parkway in Scarsdale to Tucahoe along the Bronx River ca. 40°58’N,
ca. 73°48’W. Associated with Acer, Aesculus, Ornithogalum, Alliaria,
Pinus and Tsuga canadensis.
Herb ca. 1 m in height. Leaves in basal rosette, cordate with
prominent parallel venation. Each purple flower subtended by white
bract, borne on spikes.
