DRY OPTERID ACE AE
Dryopteris intermedia (Muhl. ex Willd.) A. Gray
Chromosome voucher: 2n=82 (sexual diploid). Count by M.D.Windham, May 1 2012. Otherwise, I (CJR)
thought that this might be D. xtriploidea, based on the basal basiscopic pinnules (which would bring it to
carthusiana?) and the glandularity (which would bring it to intermedia).
C.J.Rothfels #4163, with C.A.Rushworth.	April 28,2012
New River, at the Wagoner Rd access. Approximately 150m NW of the parking lot,
along the Running Cedar Trail. Uncommon? In rich (but still rather disturbed) understory
of secondary forest dominated by mixed hardwoods and older Pinus. With abundant
Athyrium, Polystichum, Thelypteris noveboracesns, common Dennstaedtia, Aesculus,
poison ivy, etc.
