The New York Botanical Garden Plants of U.S.A. VERBENACEAE Verbena stricta Vent. Erect perennial herb, with several stems per clump (up to 12 maximum). Flowers odorless, soon falling after plants pulled; corolla pale purple. Abundant on W-facing pasture slope, with Poa, Cichorium intybus, Daucus carota, Zanthoxylum americanum, Verbascum thapsus. This species requires full sun; it is conspicuously absent in the shade of the scattered trees. WISCONSIN: Richland Co., 3 miles SE of Richland Center.
