VERBENACEAE Verbena stricta Vent.
Erect perennial herb, with several stems per
clump (up to 12 maximum). Flowers odorless,
soon falling after plants pulled; corolla pale
purple.
Abundant on W-facing pasture slope, with Poa,
Cichorium intybus, Daucus carota, Zanthoxylum
americanum, Verbascum thapsus. This species
requires full sun; it is conspicuously absent in
the shade of the scattered trees.
WISCONSIN: Richland Co., 3 miles SE of Richland
