United States of America. Colorado. Fremont Co. Lower portion of Phantom Canyon, on highway to Cripple Creek, between Pueblo to Canyon City, north of Arkansas River. On left side of the road, 3-4 miles up the canyon from the junction. At the south base of the cliff.

Habitat
At base of massive cliffs in the first "narrows". On small ledges. Associated with Didymodon anserinocapitatus, Schistidium apocarpum, Syntrichia inermis, Encalypta vulgaris, Pseudoleskeella tectorum, Tortella fragilis, and Bryoerythrophyllum recurvirostrum.
