Flora of the Paumonek Wetland, Long Island
Lilium superbum L.
NEW YORK, SUFFOLK CO.: Huntington Station, in the Paumonek
Wetland, west of Walt Whitman High School, in-between Jericho
Turnpike and a chain-link fence paralleling the road. Near and opening
in the fence; about 20 m northeast of the athletic field and about 14 m
south of the Phragmites marsh. About 3 plants. Tepals strongly
recurved-reflexed, orange-red with brown spots. Flower a few days past
its prime. In an Oak-Hickory Mesic Woodland with Clethra alnifolia,
Lindera benzoin, Uvularia sessilifolia, Smilax, and Sassafras albidum.
