from Villa Tunari to Cochabamba, 13.9 km NE (down)
from the Cumbre Huancanqui. Above the natural tree line,
dry and grazed grassland or shrubland with many small
fields.
17°19’06”S, 65°52’26”W. alt. 3330 m.
Colony of shrubs to 3.5 m. tall, not uncommon for a small
colony of these near houses in the area, evidently cultivated
and spreading vegetatively. Flowers very lightly fragrant
(2:20 P.M., sunny); sepals green, reflexed; corolla white;
filaments white; inside of hypanthium turning pink after the
flower opening. Fruit said to get to ca. 1 cm. in diameter
and be edible.
