BOTANICAL 03542038 The New York Botanical Garden Plants of BOLIVIA Rosaceae Prunus DEPTO. Cochabamba, Prov. Chapare, along highway from Villa Tunari to Cochabamba, 13.9 km NE (down) from the Cumbre Huancanqui. Above the natural tree line, dry and grazed grassland or shrubland with many small fields. 17°19’06”S, 65°52’26”W. alt. 3330 m. Colony of shrubs to 3.5 m. tall, not uncommon for a small colony of these near houses in the area, evidently cultivated and spreading vegetatively. Flowers very lightly fragrant (2:20 P.M., sunny); sepals green, reflexed; corolla white; filaments white; inside of hypanthium turning pink after the flower opening. Fruit said to get to ca. 1 cm. in diameter and be edible. Coll.: M. Nee & M. Mendoza 56528 28 Oct. 2009
