The New York Botanical Garden Plants of BOLIVIA Melastomataceae Tococa guianensis Aublet det. F. Michelangeli, 2007 Depto. Cochabamba, Prov. Chapare, 7.3 km SW of bridge over Río Espirito Santo. Secondary tropical lowland evergreen forest along highway from Villa Tunari to Cochabamba. 17°01’37”S, 65°29’50”W. alt. 380 m. Tree up to 4 m tall. Very little flowering now. Petals white and pink. Persistent bracteoles much longer than typical populations. Domatia crimson inside, inhabited by ants. Coll.: M. Nee, F. Michelangeli, O. Colque I., R. Flores S., D. McClelland & S.
