PROV. PICHINCHA: Along winding road from Quito to
Chiriboga in wet montane forest in the watershed
of the Rio Saloya. 19.0 km above Chiriboga/
elevation 9600 ft.
9 m vine long-pendent from tree, in bud. Flowers
and buds negatively geotropic. Petiolar nectaries^
mostly absent, but seen paired or singly on some
younger growth. Buds creamy colored with green
stripes near edges of sepals, awned 0-1.7 mm,
hypanthium strongly 5-horned, bud strongly
constricted above hypanthium, bud wider again
, oAi.i-i,/ mm, apex apicuxate or mria.
Corona in two series, pale greenish white, both
filiform and slightly clavate. Outer filaments
3-5 mm L, occasionally with a trace of a purplish
band near their middles. Inner series ca. 2-3 mm
long, erect. Operculum plicate, white, the margin
minutely papillate/erose. Nectary without ring
mm. stxgmas j. mm diameter. Shoot tip straight.
