River on the Richardson Hwy (Alaska Hwy. 2), opposite Harding Rd. (the
entrance to the Harding Lake Recreation Area), [Site Harding 1], 64° 25’ 678”
N, 146° 53’ 842”, 12 July 2000, Jason R. Grant 00-3834.
Plants growing abundantly along maintained roadside ditch. Vegetation
includes young saplings of Salix alaxensis, S. bebbiana, Betula neoalaskana,
Populus tremuloides, Populus balsamifera and Picea glauca. Associated
herbs and small shrubs include: Epilobium angustifolium, Trifolium hybridum,
Cornus canadensis, Taraxacum officinale, Oxytropis campestris, Rosa
acicularis, Plantago major, Moehringia lateriflora, Calamagrostis
canadensis, Potentilla norvegica, Galium boreale, Vaccinium uliginosum,
Carex concinna, Linnaea borealis, Shepherdia canadensis, Actostaphylos uva-
ursi, Achillea millefolium, Equisetum pratense and Hedysarum alpinum.
At this site, Botrychium alaskense, B. lanceolatum, B. lunaria, B. minganense,
and B. multifidum grow together.
