Grassy roadside depressions and adjoining pastures off of the Panamerican Highway ca. 30 km W of Santiago. Shrubs 1-2 m tall. Petals 5, purple-magenta, each with a narrow white band at the very base. Staminodia filamentous, purple basally but white distally, 5 in number and opposite the petals. Stamens 5, opposite the calyx lobes and declined to one side of the flower, one with markedly compressed and prolonged connective; filaments and connective purple; anthers darker purple with white rostra.
