In boggy soil below spring on gentle, W-facing slope with Carex.
Juncus & Thalictrum. Plants perennial from widely-creeping
rhizomes; aerial stems monomorphic, overwintering; stem ridges
<12, shallowly grooved (especially on sheaths), with parallel lines of
microtubercles to either side of groove; sheaths slightly flaring,
black-banded distally; sheath teeth persistent to irregularly
deciduous, with black centers & prominent whitish margins; cone
apex sharply apiculate; spores green, spherical.
