Gaertner WHITTIER HILLS (local name for the western extremity of the Puente Hills): upper end of Turnbull Canyon. Whittier 7.5' USGS quadrangle; T2S R11W, N/2 NE/4 SE/4 section 15; elev. ca 760-780 feet. Localized, but locally common annual with sprawling stems; at disturbed base of mesic N slope at margin of horse trail. Schizocarps strigose on veins; both mericarps tuberculate, or one with stout, cenchroid prickles. Associated with Heteromeles arbutifolia, Bromus catharticus, Galium aparine, Picris echioides, Hirschfeldia incana, etc. 03519722
