Hidalgo, 20 minutes from San Miguel de
Allende. Collection made next to Santuario
de Allende. Approx.: 21*23' N., 100*59' W.
Cultivated herb to 3 meters. Flower spike
mostly erect, color of spike pink to magenta.
Seeds black.
Cultivated in back of small store. Mixed with
culinary herbs and ornamental flowers. This
plant cultivated as ornamental. Use of seeds
for food was not known by owner, nor did
she connect it to "alegria".
