Locally abundant in spring-run, the spring arising beneath a
limestone ledge; small tributary stream of the Chipola River,
ca. 1/2 mile N of bridge across River at Marianna.

Note: Whatever the true taxonomic status of this plant may be,
specimens of this number are from the precise type locality.
Originally collected here in 18U8: in the 1930*s (see Small*s
MFerns of the Southeastern States; six specimens were observed
here, two vouchers placed in the herbarium of the New York
Botanical Garden. I saw a very few specimens in 1956, the spring-
run having recently been cleaned out. At the time of the
present collection, the plant was very abundant for about fifty
yards below the spring. RKG
