Seasonally flooded várzea and (on higher ground) terra firme. Relatively level terrain. Primary forest. Mauritia palm swamp.

Description
Tree 20 m x 20 cm; outer bark pale brown, flaky, thin, smooth, inner bark with red striations; sap red. Flowers orange. Young stems hallow, inhabited by tachi ants. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
