Los Rios: Rio Palenque Biological Station, km 56 on Santo
Domingo to Quevedo road. In front of science centre building,
ca. 00°35’S, 79°20’W.	150-220 m alt.
Edge of small area of remnant primary forest. Top of steep slope
above river. Tree 26 m x 35 cm. Slight, steep buttresses with
one root spreading to 1.5 m up slope. Bark grey-brown, patched
with lichen, fissured vertically and flaking slightly; bark 5 mm
thick, buff in section. Slash pale red-brown with slight red
streaks. Some red exudate after ca. 1 hour. Mature fruit yellow,
dehiscing to reveal thin, bright red aril which covers a 3 mm thick
cream, powdery layer. ’ Seeds green.
