  • Habitat

    Sand dune and wind-scoured bowl on mesa top over Navajo Sandstone slickrock. Locally common on mesa top, population est. at 3000 with density of 1-3 plants per sq. meter One plant found at base of mesa in sandy soil with Castilleja chromosa. In community of Artemisia filifolia, Wyethia scabra, & Penstemon ambiguus on summit and saddle of mesa. With Penstemon ammophilus, Astragalus striatiflorus, Eriogonum alatum, & E. racemosum var. zionense.
