at Upper Sòda Spring, Siskiyou county. This odd but beauti-
[ fui plant, its thick and woody looking rhizome usually growing
| iti water, is plentiful in the upper Sacramento and its tributa-
ries, found ^fjaringly as far south as Redding. . It also occurs in
