"boot-heel,11 within 3/4 mile from Mexico, NW Corner Sec. 16, T29S, R13W. On NE-facing limestone rock, relatively barren, 30% slope; elev. ca. 4800 ft. Growing from tiniest of clefts; tallest plant ca. % m., dense, spin^scent; in one patch of about 23 in. 200 m area, not seen elsewhere on this slope, although TodsenTs collections come from different plant. Philadelphus mearnsii, Mortonia, Alloysia, Cercocarpus, Juniperus, Dasylirion, Fouquieria, Gutierrezia, Dalea formosa, Opuntia (phaeacan- tha ?), Parthenium, 0. spinosior, Salvia henryi, Coll: Richard Spellenberg, Darrell Ward May 13, 1980 Distribution: NMC ^ 03377273
