30% NE rocky slope of weathered granular
basalt (?) and fine soil; just above
timberline. With Erigeron compos itus,
Agropyron, Poa rupicola, Hymenoxys,
Artemisia, Selaginella, Trifolium,
Arenariar Festuca ovina, l*hlaspi montanuny
Silene acaulis, Phlox (pulvmate), Car ex#
Geum.
Crowns grow in loose patchesr 2 - 3 dm
broad; possibly deeply rhizomatous.
