Examined for Flora of North America BOERHAVIA TORREYANA , (S. Wats.) Standi. The fruits in the upper left comer are not from B. torreyana, the specimen fixed to the sheet, a species mostly from the northern reaches of the Chihuahuan Desert and the higher elevations in northeastern Arizona. They are from B. coulteri (Hook, f) S. Wats. var. palmeri (S. Wats.) Spellenb., a species most common on the Sonoran Desert. Torrey (Mex. Bound. 1858, p. 171) cites the collection with others under B. spicata. Standiey (Contr. U.S. Nat Herb. 12:384. 1909) includes the collection in B. coulteri. R.
