Diodia teres Walter.
Wapello County: T71N R14W Section 24 SW4 NE4 NW4 SE4
UTM (NAD83, 15T): 549118 East, 4531640 North
An approximately 3.5 acre field, owned by Mike and Tami Paris, occurs about
3.5 miles south of Ottumwa. It was probably crop ground years ago based on
being gently sloping, on a ridge top and dominated by Andropoaon virainicus.
The field also appears to be crop ground in black and white aerial photography
from the late 1930’s. It is on the Southern Iowa Drift Plain.
Diodia teres is locally common (thousands of genets) and has pale purple
corollas. The collection comes from a gentle, west-facing slope. Diodia teres
is associated with Achillea millefolium. Ambrosia artemisiifolia. Aster pilosus.
Daucus carota. Juniperus virainiana. Kummerowia stipulacea. Paspalum
setaceum. Plantaao lanceolata. Rudbeckia hirta. Ruellia humilis. Solidaao
nemoralis. Solidaao riaida. Spiranthes lacera. Toxicodendron radicans. Tridens
flavus and Trifolium pratense.
