Description
Large spreading tree 60 or more feet high; stem 5 ft. thick, divided at the middle into main branches which widely spread and rebranch; bark mottled, smooth or lenticelled on the trunk, quite thick, reddish brown beneath the epidermis; wood moderately hard, whitish on the outside, reddish toward the center, odorless and tasteless; leaves coriaceous, spreading, shining deep green on the upper conduplicate surface, much lighter green beneath, descending; the veins yellowish; inflorescence erect, axillary, pale green, except the somewhat brownish calyx and white petals and filaments, only slightly fragrant. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
