ASHLAND COUNTY Rest Area along Route
1-71-north, at mile 180, 6.5 miles south of U.S. Route
250 (Ashland-Wooster) exit at mile 186, southwest of
Ashland. West-facing slope, sandstone, disturbed
sandy soil.
Disturbed mesic upland forest, with Fagus
grandifolia, Acer saccharum, immediate associates:
Tussilago farfara, Trillium, introduced grasses at
roadside. Locally common rhizomatous perennial in
large colony, flowers white, fruit green, leaves all green
- not variegated.
