BALL FLAT: 1500 m due N of Jackson Lake, between
the Boulder Canyon and Mescal Creek drainages; Mescal
Creek 7.5' USGS topo sheet; T4N R8W, SE/4 SW/4
NW/4 section 28; elev. ca. 5720-5800 feet.
Heavily disturbed site currently used for refuse
disposal. A few taxa apparently introduced by the forest
service (Pinus coulteri, Cupressus arizonica, Ccdocedrus
decurrens). Native vegetation appears to have been
pinyon woodland (Pinus monophylla) and desert
transition chaparral (Quercus john-tuckeri, Ceanothus
greggii vestitus, Fremontodendron californicum, Yucca
whipplei, Artemisia tridentata, Cercocarpus betuloides,
Stipa speciosa, Chrysothamnus nauseosus, Ericameria
linearifolia, Eriodictyon trichocalyx, Eriastrum
densifolium, etc.
Annual, scattered locally.
