Unshaded grassy roadside, on limestone, rolling rangeland,
pastured, with scattered trees.
With Gaillardia pulchella, Engelmannia perestinia,
Hymenopappus tenuifolius, Ratibida columnifera, Krameria
lanceolata.
Loose clump with many stems, these mostly leaning. Fruit
light green, some partly red-tinged.
