On steep talus slopes below conifer-hardwood forest. Locally abundant. Light gray soil, pH ca. 7.8.

Description
Corollas dark pink to pale red-violet, tube base darker red-violet; staminode white; anthers dark red-violet, blue-black with age; nectar sweetly fragrant. Phenology of specimen: Fertile, Flower.
